Education:

    • MSc in Chemical Engineering, The Petroleum Institute, Abu Dhabi UAE (Fall 2010)
    • BEng (With Honors) in Chemical Engineering, University of Birmingham, United Kingdom. (2005-2008)

Profile:

Ahsan Qayum completed his bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering (with Honors) from the University of Birmingham in 2008. His final year design project was on the production of electricity and process steam using waste biomass.  Prior to Joining PI, He worked as an Operations Engineer at Robinson Brothers Ltd, a pharmaceutical intermediate manufacturer based in West Bromwich, U.K.  He recently joined PI as a Graduate Research teaching assistant.

He has also worked as an assistant consultant at AJK biodiesel Consultancy prior to graduating.

Currently he is working on a project financed by Borouge under the supervision of Dr Ahmed Al Shoaibi and Dr C.S. Kannan.

Research Interest:

Reaction Kinetics, Gasification/ Pyrolysis, Carbon capture and sequestration.

Projects:

  1. Conversion of waste plastic to Energy (Current)
  2. Production of Electricity and process steam by combusting biomass in Bubbling fluidized bed combustor.
  3. Production of zero-fat food spread.
