Profile:
Mrs. Nevin T Mathew joined PI as Laboratory Engineer (Research) in July 2011. Her current research work involves the “Study of Asphaltene deposition tendency through simultaneous determination of phase behavior and interfacial properties”. Prior to joining PI, she has worked as Laboratory Chemist at Intertek Caleb Brett, Sharjah and as Senior Research Fellow at National Chemical Laboratory (NCL), Pune, India. She has also worked as Project Assistant II (Research) for the prestigious nuclear program of Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC), Mumbai, India.
Academic Accomplishments:
- Senior Research Fellowship, awarded by Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), India, for the year 2006-2007.

Projects handled
(1) “Synthesis, Characterization and Catalytic Applications of Hierarchical Zeolites.”
Position held & Location of work: Senior Research Fellow,
Inorganic & Catalysis Division, NCL, Pune, India.
Description of work:
- Optimization of synthesis procedure for hierarchical Zeolites such as H-ZSM-5, H-ZSM-12 and its conventional catalysts.
- Characterization study of catalysts by N2 Adsorption, XRD, TEM.
- Correlate the structure-activity studies for different organic transformations of molecules.
(2) “Development of Hydrophobic Catalysts for the Isotopic Exchange of Hydrogen and Water.”
Position held & Location of work: Project Assistant II,
Bhabha Atomic Research Center, Mumbai & NCL, Pune.
Description of Work:
- Synthesis of catalysts (Pt/ZSM-5, Pt/C, Pt/SBA-15)
- Characterization of catalysts by XRD, N2 Sorption, Temperature Programmed Desorption and Infra-red Spectroscopy.
- Modification of catalysts by both inorganic and organic hydrophilic/hydrophobic binder systems, and its mechanical strength optimization.
- Testing of catalysts for the isotopic exchange of Hydrogen & Water in both liquid and vapor phase chemical exchange reactors.
(3) “Synthesis, Characterization and Catalytic Study of Mesoporous Molecular Sieves”.
Position held & Location of work: M.Tech Project, National Chemical Laboratory, Pune, India.
Description of Work:
- Synthesis and optimization of Al-MCM-41 catalyst with different Aluminium loadings.
- Characterization study of catalysts by N2 sorption, X- ray diffraction, Transmission Electron Microscopy, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance and Temperature Programmed Desorption
- Study of organic transformations of molecules and its analysis by Gas Chromatography, GC-MS.

Worked as Laboratory Chemist, Intertek Caleb Brett, UAE
Description of work:
- Analysis & Testing of Aviation Fuels, Crude Oils, Fuel Oils, Lubricants, Gas Oils and other Chemicals as per ASTM/BS Standards.
- Testing of Perfume Products as per SASO ( Saudi Arabian Standards Organisation ) specifications
- Testing of Water Samples & Fertilizers.
- Calibration of Instruments like K.F Titrator, Sulphur Analyser, pH Meter, TDS Meter, Viscometer, Thermometer, Bomb Calorimeter, Hydrometer, Weighing Balance etc. and maintaining their records regularly.
