PROFILE
Dr. Nicoleta Doriana Stanciu joined the PI as Research/Teaching Associate in March 2011. She graduated from the University “Politehnica” of Bucharest with a B.S. in Polymer Chemistry and Technology in 2004, and she was immediately hired as a Research Assistant at the Center for Organic Chemistry “Costin D. Nenitescu”, Bucharest, Hybrid Organic Materials research group. In the same year she started her Ph. D. thesis on synthesis and characterization of some composites obtained by “in situ” radical polymerization under both Proffesor Mircea Teodorescu (University “Politehnica” of Bucharest) and Professor Thiery Hamaide (Claude Bernard University, Lyon, France) supervision, which she successfully defended in January, 2010. Meanwhile, she attended the courses of the "Modern syntheses of macromolecular compounds" section of the "Advanced Studies" educational program of the Faculty of Applied Chemistry and Materials Science, University “Politehnica” of Bucharest, graduating in 2005, with the dissertation thesis entitled "The study of the copolymerization of maleic anhydride with dicyclopentadiene in homogeneous system". In March 2011 she started a one year post-doctoral stage on characterization of natural and synthetic polymers used in pharmaceutical industry (confidential contract). This post-doctoral stage was realized under coordination of Professors Christelle Delaite, Sophie Bistac, Maurice Brogly and Gérard Riess.
The activity of self-improving and scientific research in this period was marked by the publication of more than 10 papers in refereed journals, over 30 scientific communications and participation as a team member to over 5 research projects under public contracts. Also, Dr. Stanciu became familiar with experimental techniques involving ultrasound, inert atmosphere and high vacuum, as well as modern analytical methods employed for the characterization of polymers, like differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, 1H-NMR spectroscopy, dynamic light scattering, contact angle, tensile and pealing analyses, elastomers rheological behavior, polymer characterization by size exclusion chromatography etc
