Profile

Salaheddin Abu Yahya, currently is a lab engineer at the Department of Chemical Engineering at the PI, he had been working as a Lab instructor at the chemical Engineering department at American University of Sharjah (AUS)- UAE since Feb 2008. Prior to working in AUS, he had been working at the chemical Engineering Department at Qatar University, Doha – Qatar as teacher assistant since Feb 2007. Mr. Abu Yahya worked for two years as teacher assistant at CRU (College of Requirements Unit) at United Arab Emirates University, Al Ein-UAE since November 2004.

He was responsible for teaching many labs as well as updating, preparing, renewing, and evolving these labs regarding (lab manuals, updating the hardware and the software), i.e. Unit operation Lab, fluid mechanics lab, heat transfer lab and corrosion Lab. He was also involved in teaching some basic courses in the chemical engineering filed, i.e. Thermodynamics, Principles of chemical engineering, separation process, equipment design and computer methods ( Mat Lab, MathCAD, HYSYS and Aspen PLUS).

Beside his academic work, Mr Abu yahya has participated in many researches at different countries, i.e.  Adsorption of heavy metals (JUST, Jordan), crystallization kinetic (Twente university, the Netherlands), Water desalination (Bremen university, Germany), and corrosion (AUS, UAE).

Currently, his work in the PI as a laboratory Engineer involves teaching HYSYS Lab, computational method Lab (Mat Lab), process control Lab and reactor Lab. Beside to that, he is fully in charge of the new polymer lab; installing, training and commission. He has been training on more than 10 polymer equipments such as, min injection, min extruder, shear rehometer, HDT, MFI, capillary rehometre and universal testometric machine (tensile strength).

Research Interests

  • Process Modeling using HYSYS and Mat-Lab.
  • Adsorption of natural gases on solid surfaces (ANG)
  • Development of polymer nano-fiber and hollow fiber membranes for desalination by membrane distillation.
  • Thermodynamic equilibrium
