The chemical engineering department at Petroleum Institute (PI) organized two separate sports day events each for Male and Female Students of the department. Both events were sponsored by Zakum Development Company (ZADCO). A variety of sports such as Football, Volleyball, Tug of war, Table Tennis, Badminton and Basketball were played during these events. Overwhelming majority of department student and staff participated in these sports. Students of others PI departments also attended the event to cheer and support their favorite teams/players. All matches were played in competitive spirit and highly conducive environment. For each sport category, Winners, 1st Runner up and second runner up teams were awarded with winning trophies. Gold, silver and bronze medals were also presented to each member of the winning teams. Delicious buffet dinners were served after the completion of award ceremonies. Events were organized by team of Ahmad Nafees and Dr. Ahmad Al Shoaibi of the department. Chemical engineering department expresses deepest gratitude towards ZADCO management for their generous support and looks forward for future support as well.
The event was graced by Dr. Ismail Tag, Senior Vice President and Provost of The Petroleum Institute. Two ZADCO representatives, Mr. Mohammed Al Balooki and Mr. Qsem Al Taher distributed trophies and medals to winning students. The award ceremony was also attended by Professor Edward Cussler from University of Minnesota, USA. Heartiest congratulations to the award winning male and female students of each sport.
