- B.Sc. (With Distinction and Summa Comma Laude): The Ohio State University, USA 2005
Dr. Ahmed Al-Durra graduated from Zayed Al-Awal Secondary School, Alain, UAE in June 2000 with a GPA of 97.9% (GPA in scientific subjects 99.5%). He was granted a full scholarship from the President’s Scholarship Office for distinguished students to study his bachelors in the USA where he achieved his B.Sc. Eng., M.Sc. Eng, and Ph.D. in 2005, 2007, 2010, respectively from The Ohio State University. He obtained the International Engineering Consortium Award for the best senior student in ECE 2005 as he graduated with Distinction and Summa Comma Laude (GPA 3.98/4.00). He was granted a full scholarship from ADNOC for distinguished scholar to study M.Sc. & Ph.D. 2006. He was invited as a guest speaker to the World Future Energy Summit in 2008 to present his work during his M. Sc. Eng. studies which was about the applications of nonlinear control theory to PEM fuel cell systems. During his Ph.D., he joined the Center of Automotive Research in OSU as a graduate research assistant, where he was granted a sponsorship from General Motors on “Feasibility Study of a Model-Based Estimation Methodology for Engine Cylinder Pressure Imbalance for Diesel Engine Combustion Control Applications.” His research interests are application of estimation and control theory in power system stability and control, energy storage system (ESS), and renewable energy systems.
