Mr. Wail currently is working at The Petroleum Institute (PI) as a research and teaching assistant, while pursuing his M.Sc. Degree at the same institute. He is involved in the preparation of the High Voltage lab, which will be established at PI and will be the first of its kind in the Middle East. Additionally, he is in charge of teaching the Electric Circuit I and Electric Machines laboratory classes to undergraduate students.
His research interests include electric machinery, power system analysis, power system protection, and control systems.
Mr. Wail was born in Damascus, Syria and moved to the UAE where he completed his high school studies at “Al Mutanabbi” high school. He then joined the PI on full scholarship in 2004, where he obtained his B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering. Mr. Wail was one of a group of students who formed the IEEE student chapter at PI and held the secretary position.
Mr. Wail participated in the 4th annual IEEE UAE student day event, where he, along with his senior design group team mates form the PI, secured 3rd place in the senior design competition that featured 10 universities. Their winning project was entitled “The Design of PID Controller for Power System Stabilization using Particle Swarm Optimization”, which was also published in the proceedings of The International Conference for Electric Power and Energy Conversion Systems, Sharjah, UAE, Nov 2009.
