May 4, 2006 - EE Juniors secure the first IEEE award for the Petroleum Institute at the 1st IEEE UAE Student Day

A group of Junior year EE students won the 2nd Place in the coveted IEEE UAE Section Student Website Competition, part of the 1st UAE Student Day activities. The competition was held on the 4th May 2006 in the American University of Sharjah, where 9 institutes from around the UAE competed to win IEEE rewards in 3 main categories, namely the common project “speed car reduction project”, the senior level projects, poster presentations and finally the IEEE UAE section webpage design. Under the supervision of Dr. Abdur Rahim El-Keib and Mr. Leslie Diaz, the Electrical Engineering Department formed a team of Junior EE students that won the 2nd place. The team members were Mohamed Al Amiri, Fuad Hanin, Tarek Ahmed, Yaaqoub Hammadi, Yahya Essa Bastaki and Hassan Al Obaidli.
