I currently work at the Petroleum Institute (PI) as a research and teaching assistant. At the moment, I am involved in the preparation of the High Voltage lab, which will be established at the PI and will be the first of its kind in the Middle East. Additionally, I am teaching the laboratory classes for the Electric Circuits I and Electric Machines courses.

My research interests are electric machinery, protection of electrical equipment, power system analysis and control systems.

I was born in Damascus, Syria and moved to the UAE where I completed my high school studies at “Al Mutanabbi” high school. I joined PI on scholarship, where I selected Electrical Engineering to be my major. I served as Secretary of the IEEE Student Branch at the PI, after being one of a group of students who formed the chapter at PI.

I participated in the annual IEEE UAE Student Day competitions held at the American University in Dubai (2009) and the United Arab Emirates University in Al Ain (2008). I won with my senior design group the 3rd place in the senior design competition among 10 universities for a project entitled “The Design of PID Controller for Power System Stabilization using Particle Swarm Optimization”. Additionally, I submitted a paper to a conference to be held at the American University of Sharjah discussing my senior design project.
