Graduated in 2006
The thing I enjoyed the most is the relationship with my professors and colleagues. To work with a group of dedicated hardworking professionals who you can benefit from day in and day out is a gift in itself. I believe this network of contacts has helped me a lot in overcoming technical hurdles, getting access to information and seeking advice for improvement.
I am very grateful to the PI for teaching me the ability to work really hard, to manage time effectively and to tackle problems systematically.
My advice to the students is to work collaboratively and maintain an open channel of communication with their professors, and not to hesitate to seek help when you need it! |

I spent 5 amazing and unforgettable years during the course of my B.Sc. at the Petroleum institute. It is indeed a privilege to have studied under such distinguished instructors at the PI, which the EE department carefully selects amongst hundreds of applicants from all over the world. The advantage of being a PI graduate was soon clear to me when I started my work as field engineer. The solid theoretical background along with the practical experience in the labs placed me a step ahead of other new graduates. The well equipped labs, the well organized and updated program, and most importantly the dedicated group of faculty and staff are key things that make the Electrical Engineering program at the PI among the best in the region, if not the best.
There is no doubt the Petroleum Institute is aiming to become a top ranked Engineering university world-wide; it is great to be part of this dream!! |

Tarek Ahmed Fouad
Graduated in 2007
My name is Tarek Ahmed Fouad. I have graduated from The Petroleum Institute and am currently working for the National Drilling Company (NDC) as an Electrical Engineer while pursuing a part-time Masters at the PI.
I personally had a great experience in the EE department at the PI. The program not only developed our competencies and basics in Electrical Engineering through theory and lots of practical work, but it also made us learn team work, leadership and hard work. I would say the EE program has developed both our technical knowledge and personal character. I like the quality of the teachers available and how they really simplify and explain concepts, as well as the caring attitude they display. I found it always interesting to work on the practical projects and indeed had a lot of fun - I specifically remember our experience in designing our own robot for an IEEE competition! I also had the opportunity to get involved in organizing and managing activities for our IEEE Student Branch and participated in major IEEE competitions in the region. The EE program has developed my time management substantially, made me realize and explore my leadership skills, improved my technical report writing and made me realize how much potential and capability I had! In a nutshell, not only the EE program prepared me well for industry, it basically shaped my personality in a way to face all difficulties and to be a leader in my field of work and in life as a whole. |

I am a proud graduate of The Petroleum Institute (PI), where I had the opportunity to be taught by top professors with long teaching experiences in very well reputed schools from around the world. At the PI, instructors work hard with us to train us to think like engineers. The theoretical background we build through coursework is linked with practical experience in a summer internship, which keeps us a step ahead and facilitates the transition to industry.
After joining the work field, I realized the benefits of being a graduate from the PI, and also saw for myself how the PI had developed a good reputation for being a quality university that produces quality engineers. |

Graduated in 2009
Joining the PI was one of the most important decisions I’ve ever taken in my life. At the beginning I was not sure if I would regret this decision as I had turned many other opportunities, but as I progressed in my degree I started realizing the level of excellence the PI had in teaching, the student centered mission it maintains, and the educational and financial support it offers. The well equipped labs are another thing that stood out in this institute. The faculty and staff continuously provided support, and pushed to be creative and to aim high. I am glad to be a graduate of this institute, am looking forward to doing a Masters degree at the PI. |
