Graeme Ward, AUP Mathematics, completed his Doctorate in Mathematics Education from Curtin University, Australia. The title of his dissertation is “ Constructing an Empowering Mathematics Learning Environment for EFL Engineering Students”. The dual purpose of this study was to (i) develop and evaluate an effective teaching resource for teachers of mathematics, in accordance with constructivist approaches to teaching, learning and educational management, and (ii) to map the evolution of teacher and students as empowered learners as these strategies were applied. In the study, activities and strategies developed within the UAE and internationally, were implemented and evaluated by PI students and teachers.
