Students in the Advanced University Placement (AUP) Department at the Petroleum Institute visited Masdar City in Abu Dhabi on October 4. Masdar City combines the use of renewable energy sources with traditional Arabic design to create a model for environmentally-friendly living that is functional, sustainable, and aesthetically pleasing. Accompanied by AUP English Instructors, Connie Eide and Nausheen Pasha-Zaidi, PI students were given a guided tour of the campus that allowed them to experience the ingenuity involved in creating the state-of-the-art facilities that are powered solely through the use of solar energy.
