Wael El-Sokkary joined the Petroleum Institute in 2006, before which he was in Maryland, USA. He has been teaching since 1992. He started his career in Cairo, Egypt before moving to Baltimore, Maryland. He does not like to travel and prefers to spend the summer in Abu Dhabi when it is not too crowded. He likes lifting heavy weights and playing with excel spreadsheets. Whenever he has a chance, Wael likes to teach Arabic as a foreign language. He believes bilingualism helps people cross cultural boundaries and makes them smarter. He always reminds his students that Einstein said, “Scientists investigate that which already is; Engineers create that which has never been.”
