PI LIbrary BLog

In October 2007 the library unveiled The Petroleum Institute’s first web log or blog.  It was available on campus only so access was a bit limited.  In July 2008 the library, with IT’s assistance, unveiled The Petroleum Institute’s first externally accessible blog.

In Sept.  2009, with help from IT and the Pi’s webmaster, the library unveiled an improved blog.   There are more features and it is easier to navigate and read older stories.  Users must register for free in order to post comments.  There is also a blog moderator who must approve all comments.

The URL is http://www.pi.ac.ae/weblogs/library

A blog is a popular Web 2.0 online social networking resource that allows people to more easily communicate and share information and ideas with each other.
The purpose of the blog is for the library to quickly inform students, staff and faculty of news from the Arzanah and Habshan Libraries and to share relevant stories, trends and current events in the reading and information seeking world.  There will also be leisure reading stories about the environment, energy, technology, and the environment.  The blog is managed by library staff during throughout the year and anyone can post a comment about a story.  It will have a moderator to approve people’s comments.

The library looks forward to using this innovative technology to better serve the PI community and to get constructive feedback about improvements to library services.
