Brief biography

After acquiring B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering with honors from UET Lahore, Pakistan, Farhat joined Descon Engineering Abu Dhabi, a well-known Project Management Organization in Oil and Gas Sector. He holds 3 years of professional experience in Fabrication, Erection, Commissioning and maintenance of Process Piping, Pipe supports, Steel Structures, stationary equipments and valves in Oil and Gas field. As an employee of Descon Engineering Abu Dhabi, Farhat worked as a Planning Engineer/ Site Engineer on different construction and maintenance projects at Borouge, Elixier, Gasco, Fertil, Takreer and ADCO till August 2010. Currently he is working as a GR/TA under the supervision of Dr. Imad Barsoum and Dr. Abdennour Seibi. His fields of interest are solid mechanics, modeling and analysis of failure mechanism of high strength materials. His research area is related to failure modeling and optimization of the Tubular Expansion Process. His M.Sc thesis will be based on developing ductile failure envelop characterized by stress state in terms of Triaxiality T and Lode Parameter L. Finally it will focus on the tube flaring process and selection of the optimum shape of the mandrel in the solid tubular expansion process assisted by experimentations and Finite Element Modeling in Abaqus.
