2011-12-07: ASME Student Chapter Recruitment Event |
On Wednesday December 7, 2011, the ME ASME student chapter held its Fall 2011 recruitment event at the ADNOC Oasis pavilion on the PI campus. As an incentive to join the student chapter, membership expenses for the first fifty students who showed up at the event were covered by the ME department. During the event pamphlets outlining the benefits of becoming an ASME Student Member and detailed instructions covering the online registration process were handed out to the participating students. During the event pizza, cookies, and soft drinks were provided to the attendees. The PI ASME Student Chapter plans to actively expand its member base and hold various events including a trip to next year's International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition (IMECE 2012) which will be held in Huston, Texas. The ASME Student chapter co-president, Mr. Khalil Al Handawi and Mr. Yousuf El Abbasy, would like to thank Dr. Hamad Karki, Dr. Sai Chong Fok, and Mrs. Margie Abedejos for their time and dedication to host the event.
