2012-01-11: Mechanical Engineering Female Students Selected as UAE/NASA Research Fellows |

The ME department is pleased to announce that Mechanical Engineering female students Ms. Ghena Alhanaee and Ms. Heyam Alblooshi have been selected as UAE/NASA Research Fellows for the Spring 2012 semester. The fellowship is given to a total of 3 outstanding undergraduate or graduate UAE National students studying in the UAE. The non-profit Arab Youth Venture Foundation in UAE has struck a 3-year agreement with NASA to allow UAE nationals to take part in research at NASA. The agreement, which started in 2010, is now in its final year. Three sessions, which take place every year (Spring, Summer and Fall), allow qualifying students in the field of engineering and science-related disciplines to conduct research at NASA. Ghena and Heyam will be taking part in the Spring 2012 session, which will run from February to June 2012. The students will spend time at the NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View, California, USA where they will be part of cutting-edge research for a period of 15 weeks. Both students have recently completed their B.Sc. degrees in Mechanical Engineering in Fall 2011 and are planning to continue their graduate studies starting Fall 2012.
