Educational Qualifications:

  • M.Sc. Geological Sciences, University of New York at Albany, USA, 1993
  • B.Sc. Geological Sciences, University of Wurzburg, Germany, 1991

Short Bio:

After receiving her Master’s Degree in Earth Science in 1993 from the State University of New York, Albany, Susanne worked for several years as a Project Geologist for international/national companies in Germany, dealing with environmental impact studies, petrographic/geological core description and ground water monitoring projects. They included financial control and experiencing technical evaluation procedures, work flow and budgeting to the expected industry standard.

In 2004 she moved to Abu Dhabi and in 2007 joined the Petroleum Institute, after some years of parental break. Since then, Susanne has supervised most geological lab sessions of the Petroleum Geoscience Undergraduate Program several times (apart from Geophysics) and gathered fundamental knowledge and confidence in academia. She therefore offers students professional guidance by instructing their research and lab work assignments as well as mandatory field work. Laboratory experiments, exercises and background material for students are under constant QA/QC. Laboratory equipment - specifically polarization microscopes - are maintained to the best possible standard. For the remaining time Susanne is interested in supporting faculty research activities favoring lifelong learning precepts.
