PETROLEUM GEOSCIENCES PROGRAM

PGEG311 – Sedimentary Petrology Field Trip to Ras Al Khaimah Nov 2008
During November 2008 40 junior students from the PGEG311 - Sedimentary Petrology Course spent five studious but happy days in various locations in Ras Al Khaimah to put into practice what they had learnt in the laboratory. They identified, measured and logged rocks that are of Triassic age  - around 200 million years old -  and also studied the associated fossils to interpret the environment in which the rocks had been deposited. They also studied the more recent deposits of an alluvial fan and Ras Al Khaimah beach!
