PETROLEUM GEOSCIENCES PROGRAM

Participation of PI faculty and students in 72nd EAGE Conference & Exhibition in Barcelona, June 2010

Petroleum Geosciences faculty and students participated in the 72nd EAGE Conference in Barcelona by presenting their works in different research projects. Dr. Mohammad Ali presented his paper "A low frequency passive seismic arrays experiment over an oil field in Abu Dhabi: implications for hydrocarbon detection". Moreover, Dr. Karl Berteussen presented a poster entitled "Multi component seismic acquisition in Arabian Gulf: should we take a new look at the acquisition parameters". Petroleum Geosciences students: Ahmed Abed Hassan and Ammar El Husseiny, each had a poster presentation of their research studies both supervised by Dr. Sandra Vega. The title of Ahmed's poster was "The effect of Carbonate texture and pore types on the pressure dependence of acoustic velocities" while Ammar's study was entitled "Outcrop-Seismic-Core plugs correlation in a UAE Cretaceous carbonates"
