PETROLEUM GEOSCIENCES PROGRAM
|
|
Program Outcomes
Program Outcomes for PETROLEUM GEOSCIENCES follows directly from the Educational Mission and Program Educational Objectives. The relationship between Program Goals and Objectives is shown in Table 2. Evaluation of Goals and Objectives and whether goals and objectives were attained is done through a formal Program assessment system.
| Our graduates upon completion of the PETROLEUM GEOSCIENCES Program at The Petroleum Institute will be able to do the following. |
ABET Criteria: |
Objective 1: |
Apply knowledge of math, chemistry, physics, geology, and geophysics to solve petroleum geosciences problems; |
3a, e |
| Objective 2: |
Formulate solutions to geoscience problems involving design of geophysical surveys, acquisition and processing of geophysical data, and making reasonable geological interpretations from results; |
3a, b, c, e, k |
| Objective 3: |
Design and construct 3-dimensional Earth models to solve E&P-type problems from appropriate geological, petrophysical, and geophysical data; |
3a, c, e, k |
| Objective 4: |
Function effectively on multi-disciplinary teams; |
3d |
| Objective 5: |
Demonstrate an awareness of social, ethical, and professional responsibilities in the exploitation of petroleum resources and an awareness of major regional and global social and environmental issues; |
3f, h, j |
| Objective 6: |
Demonstrate an ability to communicate in oral and written forms in English appropriate to the petroleum industry; |
3g |
| Objective 7: |
Demonstrate recognition of the need for and an ability to engage in continual self-education. |
