April 22: Emirates Foundation for Philanthropy awarded a AED 100,000 grant for PI HSE project ‘A Comprehensive Education and Awareness Program  for Carbon Footprint Reduction’.

The proposal is to develop a web based interactive program for students, staff and faculty working and studying in The Petroleum
Institute to measure the carbon emission arising from their day to day activities.
The objective of this project is to:

1. Design a web base software for measuring the carbon footprint of PI students, staff and faculty due to their energy consumption at home and travel.
2. Design a booklet and conduct a workshop to introduce the concept and the use the software.
3. Gather, process and analyze data.
4. Present results in a workshop to PI staff and students.
5. Prepare a report and broadcast findings through newspapers, TV, national radio or other appropriate media (You will not be required to make any presentations if you choose not to)

PI in collaboration of the WSP Environment and Energy, developed a software ‘PACT’ and this project was officially launched on Earth Day 2010.
