In August, the Petroleum Institute received authorization to offer new PhD programs in five areas: chemical, electrical, mechanical and petroleum engineering, and petroleum geosciences. The programs are among the most robust doctoral programs in the UAE and the first focused around the oil and gas industry. In conjunction with the ADNOC Research and Innovation Centre, they will enable the Petroleum Institute to operate as a research-intensive institution, which will transform the Institute into a powerful magnet that can attract top-level research talent to Abu Dhabi.
One of our proudest achievements this year, was the completion and inauguration of the ADNOC Research and Innovation Centre, a state-of-the-art and multidisciplinary facility that will serve as a focal point for energy research, particularly in the field of petroleum engineering and related areas. The research centre has been designed to encourage innovation and collaboration in the development of technologies to help accelerate Abu Dhabi's economic growth and increase its global competitiveness. The 23,000-square meter facility is a significant milestone in the Petroleum Institute's journey toward becoming one of the world's leading centres for energy research. Equipped with more than 30 high-tech labs, and sustained by a range of high-profile industry partnerships, the ADNOC Research and Innovation Centre will advance the development of enhanced oil recovery technologies and applied energy research.
