Research Ethics

All Petroleum Institute (PI) community members engaged in research are expected to adhere to high ethical standards as defined in the PI Ethical Issues policy (PIP8500). This policy covers research integrity, conflict of interest, nepotism and informed consent and applies to all PI faculty, staff and students involved in research, and to external parties involved with the PI in research, scholarship, and creative activities.

In addition, the PI has a Human Subjects Research policy (PIP 8600) which specifically regulates research activities involving human subjects and/or utilizing data on human subjects. This policy is operationalized through the PI Institutional Review Board under the direction of the SVP Research & Development.
