27/Mar/2011: PI Petroleum Geosciences students succeeded in two international competitions organized by the EAGE (European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers).

The male student chapter won the third place in an online quiz held March 1st. The female student chapter qualified for the EAGE Student Field Challenge to be held in May.

EAGE student chapters form all over the world participated in the online geo-quiz on March 1st, including both PI student chapters (male and female, respectively).
Qualification to participate in the Student Field Challenge was based on the evaluation of a multidisciplinary essay (Geosciences and Petroleum Engineering) about “The value of integration between Geosciences and Engineering”.  In this qualification round, again EAGE students chapters from all over the world submitted their essays (including the PI male and female student chapters). Eight teams were selected from these submission, among them the PI female chapter.

As a result of these two competitions both, the male and female student chapters are qualified, and invited by EAGE to the annual conference in Vienna, Austria. The male team will compete in an on-site quiz with students (undergraduates and graduates) from the other qualified  student chapters. The female team will present their interdisciplinary work about a field development plan of a hydrocarbon resource, from a dataset provided by TOTAL. They will compete with 7 internationals teams that were also selected based on their essay submission.
