17 Feb 2010 - Borealis sponsors chaired professor seat at Abu Dhabi Petroleum Institute
Borealis announced the establishment of a chaired professor seat at the Petroleum Institute in Abu Dhabi to support polymer science education in the region. The Borealis Chaired Professor will be funded for an initial four year period within the University’s Material Science department at the Petroleum Institute. The Chaired Professor will be selected by a committee at the Petroleum Institute on the basis of academic and research credentials. The annual contribution from Borealis will cover manpower requirements and research costs.
We appreciate the support of Borealis for their sponsorship of the chaired professor. Chaired professors are a win-win arrangement for the sponsor and for the Institute. They attract high-caliber professors who are not only excellent in teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels, but also have an international reputation in a certain field of research expertise. We are confident that the chaired position will make an impact in enhancing the research and educational activities in the polymer track of our Material Science Program, while helping the sponsor with solving select problems in the polymer engineering, said Dr. Ohadi, Provost and Acting President of the Institute.
