06/June/2010: Communication faculty member Dr Caroline Brandt was invited to give the keynote address at the Euro-American Conference of the International Journal of Arts & Sciences, Aix en Provence, France, in June 2010.
She spoke about her research into situational variables that can affect the adaptation of expatriate academics to GCC host societies. In a subsequent session, Dr Brandt presented her paper entitled ‘Scaffolding ESL undergraduates’ academic acculturation through journal articles as teaching resource’, in which she reported on her research into the cultural, social and linguistic dimensions of the preparation of ESL students for study for higher education English-medium study.
