06.05:Chemistry and physics tournament at PI for
Glenelg students

Sixteen male students from the Glenelg School in Abu Dhabi took part in a science contest hosted at the Petroleum Institute on May 6th, 2009. This was in connection with the P.I. Math and Science League (MSLPI) which came into existence in the Fall semester 2008. The initial contest in the MSLPI series took place in December 2008, when the focus was on solely  on mathematics. This latest competition involved the students being challenged by questions on chemistry and physics.
The contest commenced with two 25 minute rounds of written questions presented from each subject area. Scores for the respective subjects were kept and then tallied to determine the best overall performances for this stage of the event. Three individual winners were identified from this section of the competition. Following on from this, 90 minutes was set aside for a group event, where the contestants’ team-work skills were focused on science problems. The winning team and individual event members appear below.
