8-11/Jun/09: Drs. Karl Berteussen, Sandra Vega, and Mohammed Ali participated in the 71st EAGE  (European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers) Conference in Amsterdam.

Dr. Karl Berteussen, Professor and Acting director of the PI research center, presented  two papers and chaired a section on alternative geophysical techniques. The two papers were “Challenge and Opportunity of 4C Ocean Bottom Seismics in Shallow Water Environment” by Y. Sun and K. Berteussen and “Microseism and microtremor analysis over an oilfield in Abu Dhabi: Implications for cyclone and hydrocarbon detection” by M. Y. Ali, K. A. Berteussen and J. Small.

Dr. Sandra Vega, Assistant Professor of Petroleum Geosciences,  presented a paper titled “What we Have Learnt About Fluid Substitution and Velocity Pressure Dependence on Early Cretaceous Carbonate Rocks from the Middle East?” and her student’s (Ahmed Abed Hasan) paper “A Study of Seismic Velocities and Differential Pressure Dependence in a Middle East Carbonate Reservoir”.  

Dr. Mohammed Ali, Assistant Professor of Petroleum Geosciences,  presented a paper titled "Recent Low Frequency Passive Seismic Experiments in Abu Dhabi" and chaired a section "Microseismic Monitoring".

EAGE is the largest geosciences and engineering conference in Europe and incorporates a large geophysical exhibition.. It was attended by more than 5000 experts from all over the world.
