10-15/April/2009: Two PI students’ posters selected to go to the SEG annual meeting in Houston.
Dr. Sandra Vega from Petroleum Geosciences and three of her students (Moutaz Bassan Falih Saleh, Ahmed Abed Hassan, and Abdul Aziz Saeed Saif S.O. Al Mazrooei ) participated in the Development and Production 2009 SEG Forum in Bahrain during 10 to 15 of April 2009. Dr. Vega presented a talk about Fluid Substitution and Pressure dependence in Middle East Carbonates. Moutaz Saleh presented a poster on his “Study of permeability and velocity anisotropy in carbonates”, which was co-supervised by Dr. Manika Prasad and Ravi Sharma from Colorado School of Mines. Ahmed Hasan presented a poster about his “Study of seismic velocities and differential pressure dependence in a Middle East carbonate”. Abdul Aziz Al Mazrooei presented his preliminary and innovative experiments and results on “Physical and Chemical Digenesis on Acoustic Properties of Forming Carbonate Minerals: Calcite and Dolomite”. The organizer committee of the D&P SEG Forum chose the three best students’ posters to go to the SEG annual meeting in Houston. We are glad to inform that PI won two of these students’ nominations, which were for Ahmed Abed Hassan from Petroleum Geosciences and Moutaz Bassan Falih Saleh from Petroleum Engineering.
