12.04: When Worldviews Collide
Points of Departure for Islamic Thought and Scientific Thought
By John Herlihy

John Herlihy, the Director of the Foundation Program at the PI, recently presented a paper at the 7th Critical Islamic Reflections Conference at Yale University in New Haven, Conn.

The theme of this year's conference was "Islamic Thought vs. Modern Scientific Thought", a topic that is of particular interest at the PI as an engineering university located within the Islamic World. His paper examines the sources of knowledge of the scientific and religious worldviews in an attempt to outline a pragmatic answer to the question:  How do we know what we know?

The abstract and the paper itself are available through the following links.
