20/Dec/2010: PI Petroleum Engineering student Mr. Yu Zhou won the 2nd place in the Student Paper Contest held in Saudi Arabia.
Mr. Yu Zhou, MS student from Petroleum Engineering Department of the PI won the 2nd place in the Student Paper Contest organized in conjunction with the 2nd Saudi Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Technologies Conference (OGEP 2010) held in King Fahad University of Petroleum and Minerals, Saudi Arabia, 18-20 December 2010.
Student Paper Contests are organized to allow graduate and undergraduate students from local and Middle East Universities to propose, on a competitive basis, innovative ideas, design concepts and new enabling technologies that are relevant to the E&P industry. The contest consisted of selected students or teams (undergraduate, master, and PhD divisions) from participating universities. The work of each student or team was judged for content and presentation by a panel of experts.
Yu’s research project titled “Investigation of Likely Asphaltene Precipitation Behavior During Gas Injection in an UAE Carbonate Reservoir” was supervised by Dr. Hemanta Sarma. His achievement once again demonstrated the capability of The Petroleum Institute in both teaching and R&D as one of the first class universities in the world.
