PI Recognition 2009

Four Electrical Engineering student teams were recognized by the EE Department for winning 4 awards for the PI at the 4th IEEE-UAE Students’ Day competitions, which involved ten UAE Universities.

Osama Al Ameri, a Junior EE student, won the Second Place Award in the highly competitive “Made in the UAE Competition,” for his project “Photovoltaic Curve Tracer.” In recognition of its quality, technical value, and promise for the market his project was selected for participation and invited to be an entry at the professional category of “Made in The Arab World,” competition in Cairo, Egypt. This event involves many professional engineers and universities from the Arab world with the Petroleum Institute being one of only two universities from UAE.

Eisa Al Qubaisi, Nabil H. K. Hirzallah, Baraa Mohamed Chams Al Din Mohandes, Fares Imad Eddin Subh, and Oubay Imad Esbel, received Second Place Award in the Common Design Competition, for their project “Optical Transceiver.”  

Saif Al Dhaheri, Osama Al Ameri, Malek Al Ameri, Mohamad Tamer Chaklab, and Ahmad Al Azizi received Second Place Award in the Community Service Competition, for their project “Electrical Engineers Help Save Lives.” This project targeted some Emirate Families in Al Ain and Abu Dhabi to enlighten them about the necessity and importance of having fire detectors and extinguishers in their home and how to deploy them.  The group donated such equipment to each family they visited.
 

Saif Al Dhaheri, Wail Al Habri, Mohamad Tamer Chaklab, and Mohammad Azzam received the Third Place Award in the Senior Design Competition for their project “Design of PID for Power System Stabilization using Particle Swarm Optimization.”
