An experienced architectural firm has been commissioned by the major international petroleum company that is the lead strategic advisor for planning the PI research center, to work and prepare a master plan program of space requirements and preliminary design concepts for the Research Facilities for the Petroleum Institute.
The planning effort concluded that the research facility should be oriented towards and organized around twelve specific “Business, Science and Technology Needs” or research strategies.
The new research facility will be located on the existing Petroleum institute campus.
Business, Science and Technology Needs:
- Find new hydrocarbon resources for ADNOC through new exploration plays and innovative technologies
- Improve subsurface imaging and characterization through reflection seismology and innovative geophysical methods
- Increase ultimate recovery by improving reservoir characterization, monitoring, and production technologies
- Improve well life cycle performance through advanced drilling and well integrity technologies
- Maximize well-lifetime deliverability through advanced completions and stimulation
- Develop new technologies for improved gas and chemical processing
- Develop innovative alternative energy solutions for the petroleum industry
- Develop innovative techniques for the design, analysis, optimization, and testing of power and energy systems and components for the petroleum industry
- Develop and implement novel methods to improve control systems, signal processing, instrumentation, and automation for the petroleum industry
- Identify and solve environmental issues within the petroleum industry
- Exploit materials science and engineering solutions to problems in the petroleum industry
- Devise advanced computational methods and models for petroleum industry applications
