16 March 2009 Visit of Dr. Leo Roodhart, 2009 SPE President
Feb 26, 2009. From 1 to 4 pm - Rooms 1100 Zarkuh Building and 3239 Ruwais Building
At the beginning of his visit, Dr. Roodhart had a meeting with the provost. Then he gave a presentation entitled “Prepare for the Future” targeting the whole PI family. A large number of faculty, staff, and students from both the male and the female campuses attended the presentation. During the presentation, Dr. Roodhart raised several important points such as the concept of peak oil, alternative energy sources, increasing energy needs of the world and how they are going to be met.
After that, Dr. Roodhart had a tour around campus and visited the Petroleum Engineering Department and its laboratories. At the end of his visit, Dr. Roodhart had a meeting with the SPE student chapter officers and members where he was given a good account of the activities of the PI SPE student chapter and discussed various relevant issues with the students.
