15.11: Petroleum Engineerging Students win 1st and 4th place at the SPE Sub-regional student paper contest held in Doha, Qatar.
Two entries from PEEG Students participated in the Gulf Sub-Regional SPE Student Paper Contest held in Doha, Qatar, last Saturday November 15, 2008.
The SPE (Society of Petroleum Engineers) holds nine regional student paper contests allowing students at the undergraduate, master's, and doctorate level to showcase their skills and research, competing against other students from their region for the opportunity to participate in the international student paper contest, held during the Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition. Regional student paper contests are hosted by student chapters and their universities on a rotation schedule determined by SPE's Membership Committee.
PI students Ahmed Salah Ibrahim, Nader Sameer Abdelfattah, and Moutaz Bassam Saleh won the 1st and 4th places.
Ahmed Ibrahim & Nader Abdelfattah presented a research entitled "Investigation of the Mobilization of Residual Oil Using Micromedels" supervised by Dr. Ioannis Chatzis.
Moutaz Saleh presented a research entitled "A Study of Permeability & Velocity Anisotropy in Carbonates" supervised by Dr. Sandra Vega.
