9/Feb/2010: Petroleum Engineering Students won at the SPE Sub-regional student paper contest held in Al Ain, U.A.E.
Four entries from PEEG Students participated in the Gulf Sub-Regional SPE Student Paper Contest held in UAE University, Al Ain, last Wednesday February 09, 2010.
The SPE (Society of Petroleum Engineers) holds nine regional student paper contests allowing students at the undergraduate, master and doctorate level to showcase their skills and research, competing against other students from their region for the opportunity to participate in the international student paper contest, held during the SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition. Regional student paper contests are hosted by SPE student chapters and their universities on a rotation schedule determined by SPE's Membership Committee.
PI students Celal Hakan Canbaz, Emad Waleed Al Shalabi, and Moutaz Bassam Saleh won the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, respectively.
Mr. Celal Hakan Canbaz presented a research entitled "Effect of Shape Factor, IFT and Amott Method Derived Wettability on the Imbibition Process" supervised by Dr. Shawket Ghedan.
Mr. Emad Waleed Al Shalabi presented a research entitled “Application of Direct Current to Enhance Waterflood Recovery Efficiency" supervised by Dr. Bisweswar Ghosh and Dr. Mohammed Haroun.
Mr. Moutaz Bassam Saleh presented a research entitled "Development of Early Water Breakthrough and Effectiveness of Water Shut off Treatments in Layered and Heterogeneous Reservoirs " supervised by Dr. Shawket Ghedan.
