28/Jul/09: Welcome Message for the Academic Year 2009-2010
from the Provost & Acting President.
I wish to welcome the new faculty and staff joining the Institute, as well as our returning PI community, to the academic year 2009-2010. I hope you had a good share of summer vacation and are returning refreshed and energetic for the start of the new academic year. We have reason to be proud of our achievements in 2008-2009 and we look forward to your contributions to achieving the goals and the priorities we have set for 2009-2010.
The PI remains committed to the mission of delivering two promises to its sponsors and the citizens of Abu Dhabi and the UAE. First, the PI must become a top-ranked engineering university with a special focus on the education of UAE Nationals. Second, the PI must educate future technological leaders who meet the requirement of our sponsors in the oil/gas and broader energy industry. We are committed to delivering both promises and believe the Institute is positioned well to take advantage of the strong support provided by its sponsors and international partner university collaborators.
The Institute continues to grow and show improvement on many fronts. In particular, we can be proud of our faculty, staff and the student body, who collectively represent the most talented pool found anywhere in the UAE.
For the new team members who are joining the Institute this fall, I invite you to review the State of the Institute message that is available on the PI web site. It provides you with a brief review of the current status of the Institute, major milestones achieved, challenges yet to be overcome, and most importantly, the role that each member of the PI family can play in achieving our goals.
I would like to take this time to wish each of you great success in achieving the goals you have set for the current academic year. I want to assure you that the entire PI Administration is here to support your endeavors, to enable you to provide the education and training our students need to achieve their professional goals and fulfill the mission of the Institute.
Once again, I thank each and every member of the PI family for their collective support and contributions to the continued success of The Petroleum Institute.
Yours Sincerely,
Michael Mohammed Ohadi, Ph.D.
Provost & Acting President
