The Internship and Counseling Department is dedicated to providing high quality mental health services that help students get the maximum benefit from their experience at Petroleum Institute.

Vision

We empower students to make better choices which lead to healthier, happier, and more productive lives. The philosophy is to promote independence while challenging and educating students to accept individual responsibility for the development of confidence, stability, self-respect, healthy interpersonal relationships, and coping skills.

The Objectives of the Counseling Department are to:

• Provide an environment that encourages in dependence and stability in students.
• Instill the confidence in students to make good choices about their relationships, education, career, and values.
• Create programming to encourage personal growth and the development of good interpersonal skills.
• Improve the academic performance of all students.
• Provide individualized and group assistance.
• Provide a place where faculty can refer students who are in need of assistance.
• Work collaboratively with other student services.
